Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Sollern)

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a baroque church in Sollern , a district of Altmannstein in the Eichstätt district . The place belongs to the diocese of Regensburg . The church is especially known for the fact that a Scapular Brotherhood was founded in Sollern in 1702 .

history

In front of the current building there was a small three-aisled basilica , the origins of which are unknown. From 1698 to 1717 the church was built in the Baroque and Rococo styles, including the tower. The magnificent interior dates from 1735. Because of the Scapular Brotherhood founded in 1702, thousands of pilgrims made the pilgrimage to Sollern every year for the brotherhood festival, which is why confessionals were built into the cemetery walls .

The organ was completed in 1954 by the organ building workshop Rudolf Kubak . It has 15 sounding registers .
