The castle ruins Raschenberg is a former castle on Schlossberg south of Oberteisendorf the market Teisendorf in Bavaria .

history

The hill fort was probably built in the 12th century by the Counts of Plain . From 1219 it passed into the possession of the Dukes of Bavaria before falling to the Archdiocese of Salzburg in 1275 . The name Raschenberg appears for the first time in 1275 with the names of the Plainer. The continuity between the count's jurisdiction by Count Konrad von Plain and that of the Archdiocese of Salzburg is given by the Pilgrim von Pernhaupt , mentioned in 1258 , who officiated here as a judge and is still named as a witness in 1274. Another burgrave and judge was Heinrich von Staufeneck in 1299 , Heinrich von Nopping is mentioned in 1309 and 1311 . In the 14th century, district judges are mentioned here in addition to the keepers (for example a boar from Oberteisendorf in 1370 ). The seat of the court with official, prison and archive rooms was at Raschenberg Castle, but the keepers of the 15th and 16th centuries had their residence in Vachenlueg (Haunsberger), in Adelstetten ( Trauner ) or in Wiedenreut ( Wintreit, Pettinger Hof ) at Petting (Balthasar von Thannhausen). Up until the 16th century, Raschenberg Castle was an independent court and caretaker office . In 1575 it was given up under the archbishop's keeper David von Nussdorf .

In 1678 the court and nursing home came to the newly built nursing home in Teisendorf. The castle with its wall, tower, gate, wine cellar and fountain and the judge's apartment is described as completely intact in 1613. According to the available building accounts, the well and the battlements were repaired by the end of the 17th century and were inhabited by military personnel. In 1751 five floors were drawn into the tower and it then served as a powder magazine. In 1758 all iron parts were removed from the castle and in 1761 the ruins were left to the "private iron trade union Achthal-Hammerau" for canning. In 1816 Raschenberg finally came to Bavaria.

Raschenberg Castle today

The remains of the castle wall were preserved until around 1880. Today only individual quarry stones can be seen from the former castle, stone walls of the collapsed keep as well as a well shaft covered with a concrete slab in the middle of the western castle area have been preserved. A ditch can be seen to the east. The remains are very heavily overgrown by vegetation. The ruin can be reached on the Schlossberg south of Oberteisendorf in the direction of Achtal; when crossing a stream, a sign with the inscription Schlossried points to the ruin.

In memory of this castle, there is a Raschenbergstrasse in Salzburg .
