The castle Axelmannstein also castle armpit Mannstein written is an Outbound castle and later castle in Bad Reichenhall , Salzburger Straße 4 in Berchtesgaden county land in Bavaria . The castle site is now built over with the Hotel Axelmannstein .
history
The castle was first mentioned in 1017 in the Urbarium of the Benedictine monastery Tegernsee as "Ehsilmannstein", at that time it was the seat of the Allmannstein family. This noble seat remained in the possession of the monastery until the 14th century. This was followed by the owners, the Counts of Achölker , until the Renaissance castle, a late medieval gable building with four round corner towers, burned down in 1834 . After further changes of ownership of the building was a result from 1909 to 1911 after the demolition of the foundations of today listed Grand Hotel Axelmannstein built.
