history
Until the church is planted
The church, built in the 13th century, was rebuilt in 1718.
Waidhofen was the seat of the oldest post office in the former Schrobenhausen district from around 1530 to 1802.
In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , the municipality of Waidhofen was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
Hinterkaifeck
In 1922, all six residents of the Hinterkaifeck deserted farm were murdered; the case has not yet been resolved. The homestead, which was demolished in 1923, is also the setting for the novel Tannöd . Hinterkaifeck was in the former municipality and today's district of Wangen.
Administrative community
Waidhofen has been a member of the Schrobenhausen administrative association since May 1, 1978 .

On October 1, 1971, the previously independent communities Diepoltshofen and Wangen were incorporated.

coat of arms
Description of coat of arms
Divided by green and blue by a raised silver wavy bar; below a golden post horn with red lacing.
Coat of arms history
The wave bar, a heraldic river symbol, indicates the location of the community in the Valley of the Paar. The color green in the main shield emphasizes the agricultural character of the municipality, in which the asparagus and hops are cultivated. A bundle of asparagus symbolized this special culture in the coat of arms of the former municipality of Wangen. Their coat of arms became obsolete in 1971 when it was incorporated into Waidhofen. The golden post horn reminds us that a post office had existed in Waidhofen since around 1530 , which was moved to Schrobenhausen in 1802.
Attractions
The parish church " Mariäreinigung " and St. Wendelin is a baroque hall building from 1718; the tower is still Gothic. The stucco work created in 1719 is remarkable. The frescoes dedicated to Mary were created by the Innsbruck-born painter Melchior Steidl († August 4, 1727 in Munich). Scenes from the life of St. Wendelin can be found in the ceiling paintings. Waidhofen has "one of the finest stucco pulpits in Old Bavaria". Some late Gothic portraits have also been preserved, in particular the figure of the “wonderful cattle patron and helper in need” St. Wendelin (lively pilgrimage in the 18th century). The parish church can be clearly seen from the village island, which is accessible via a bridge.
