history

Until the church is planted

The place was first mentioned in 800 as "ad Pergon". Berg im Gau belonged to the Electorate of Bavaria , but was part of the closed Hofmark Oberarnbach (created in 1279) of the Barons von Pfetten . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Outsourcing

When the community was reformed , Berg im Gau had to cede its districts in Donaumoos with the exception of the Mooshäuser "Am Kanal" on May 1, 1978 .

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,014 to 1,290 by 276 inhabitants or by 27.2%.

mayor

Mayor has been Helmut Roßkopf (Free Voters) since 2008, who prevailed against Peter Finkenzeller (CSU) with 53.2% of the vote. His predecessor was Helmut Seel (CSU). In the 2014 local elections , he was confirmed with 96.9% unopposed candidate. In the local elections in 2020 , he was confirmed in office with 75.5% without competitors.

Municipal council

In the municipal elections in 2014 and 2020, the distribution of seats remained unchanged as in the 2008–2014 term: the Free Voters Berg im Gau and the CSU each received six seats.

In 2014, the municipal tax revenue was € 951 thousand, of which the trade tax income (net) was € 214 thousand. The tax rate was € 1,050 per inhabitant.

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms adopted in 1966 reads: “Divided by blue and silver; above a red lined silver elector's hat with a golden orb and cross, below a green potato blossom. "

The Kurfürstenhut above recalled the visit of Elector Karl Theodor , the personal impression of the progress of cultivation at 26 May 1794 of Donaumoos made. The potato blossom indicates that the community on the edge of the Donaumooses developed into an important potato-growing area after the wetlands were drained in the late 18th century. The field colors silver and blue are the colors of the House of Wittelsbach and the State of Bavaria.

In 2014 there were 357 jobs subject to social insurance contributions in the municipality according to official statistics. 571 residents were in employment contracts subject to compulsory insurance, so that the number of out-commuters was 214 higher than the number of in-commuters. Six residents were registered as unemployed in 2014. In 2010, 1912 hectares of the municipal area were used for agriculture, of which 199 hectares were meadows and pastures and 1711 hectares were arable land. There were 45 farms.
