history

Karlskron was founded at the end of the 18th century as the first of the colonist settlements in the Donaumoos . The first houses were built from 1791 along the newly built Moosstrasse from Reichertshofen to Lichtenau. Based on the elector Karl Theodor , the colony was named Karlskron. On May 26, 1794, the elector personally inspected the progress of the moss colonization, as a memorial plaque on today's town hall reminds of. This oldest building in Karlskron was first the moss court, then the seat of the court lord Franz Seraph Grill, 120 years of the convent of the poor school sisters and has been the seat of the municipal administration since 1973.

As early as 1793 the colonists had requested a church, a pastor and a teacher from the Donaumoos culture commission for the 40 families because of the long distances to neighboring towns. In 1804 a parish curate was established, from 1806 - interrupted by the Napoleonic Wars - the parish church was built until 1815.

The communities of Pobenhausen and Adelshausen were incorporated on May 1, 1978.

coat of arms

Blazon : Under a silver shield head, in it side by side three green clovers, in black a growing, red armored golden lion, which holds a golden crown with its front paws.

History of the coat of arms : the three clovers in the main shield symbolize agriculture, which used to be the most important branch of the economy. The golden lion in the black field, executed in the Palatinate colors, was adopted in a reduced form from the coat of arms of the Wittelsbach rulers. The street village of Karlskron was created from 1790 during the reign of Elector Karl Theodor through systematic cultivation of the Danube moss. Most of the first colonists came from the Rheinpfalz. The place name Karlskron refers to Elector Karl Theodor, who promoted the settlement and agricultural use of the Donaumooses. A plaque on the town hall reminds of his visit to Karlskron in 1794. The crown in the lion's paws speaks for the second part of the community name.

Coat of arms : since 1972
Legal basis: Decision of the municipal council and approval of the Swabian government
Evidence: Letter from the Swabian government of March 24, 1972
