Oberambach Castle Estate
The Oberambach estate is located in the Münsing community on Lake Starnberg .
The farm was first mentioned in the Reich Archives in 1476 and belonged to the property of the Schäftlarn monastery . The provost of the monastery left it to the farmers in the area for cultivation and use. In 1574 the property was transferred to the Bernried Abbey .
On October 18, 1869, Franz Freiherr von Lobkowitz and his wife Marie Therese bought the estate for 9,400 guilders and expanded it into a manor house. The current listed building was erected between 1903 and 1907. Under the owner at the time, Baron von Kleydorff, the house developed into a meeting place for artists, writers and free thinkers.
The estate has been a hotel since 1991 .
