Kinding is located at the confluence of the Anlauter , Schwarzach and Altmühl rivers in the Altmühltal Nature Park .

history
On April 1, 1971, the new community of Kinding was formed through the merger of the previously independent communities Badanhausen, Enkering, Erlingshofen, Haunstetten, Kinding and Unteremmendorf.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the market grew from 2,209 to 2,543 by 334 inhabitants or by 15.1%.

The mask group "Kindinger Fosanegl" in Fasenickl costumes based on models from 1815 is the driving force of the Kindinger Carnival, which is in the tradition of the Altmühltal Carnival.
hermitage
The Klause karst cave is located south of Kinding . It is also called Binnleiten Cave and is registered in the cave cadastre Fränkische Alb (HFA) with the cadastral number I 66. It became known through finds as a dwelling cave in the Stone Age.
traffic
- The A9 runs to the west of the Kinding district and rises sharply to the south on Kindinger Berg . Kinding can be reached quickly via the Altmühltal junction (No. 58).
- From the regional train station Kinding (Altmühltal) on the high-speed line Nuremberg – Ingolstadt – Munich there is a two-hour cycle with the Munich-Nuremberg Express in the direction of Nuremberg and Ingolstadt / Munich . The Schellenberg tunnel and parts of the Irlahell tunnel are also in the area of the community .
- Until 1955, the community had the Kinding station on the Altmühltalbahn . In July 2020, the Neumarkt-Beilngries-Kinding railway lines (connection to the high-speed railway line) were included in the VDV's position paper as railway lines to be reactivated. This means that the old train station could also be reactivated and the regional train station converted into a connecting station.
