Thrymheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thrymheim ( old north. Þrymheimr - "Donnerheim, Lärmheim") is the residence of the Skadi in Norse mythology and, according to the Grímnismál, one of the palaces of the gods in Asgard . Originally Skadi's father, the giant Thiazi, lived here . During his marriage to Njörðr , Skadi lived temporarily with him in Nóatún by the sea ( Gylfaginning , 24). Later after the separation, she lived again in Thrymheim the whole time.

“Thrymheim is the name of the sixth where Thiassi lived, that
mighty Jote.
Now Skadi, the shy bride of the gods, lives in the
father's old fore. "

- Edda , Grímnismál , verse 11
