Himinbjörg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Himinbjörg ( aisl .: "Himmelsberg, Himmelsburg") is one of the gods' palaces in Asgard and the residence of the god Heimdall in Norse mythology . Himinbjörg is on the edge of Asgard, right at the head of the rainbow bridge Bifröst .

“Himinbjörg, is the eighth place where Heimdall is supposed to
rule the consecration place.
The guardian of the gods drinks
the sweet mead in a blissful house . "

- Edda , Grímnismál , verse 13

It is noteworthy that a Himilinberc is mentioned in the Vita of St. Gallus . The saint went with a local companion into the jungle, where the two men were threatened by female demons, which Gallus eventually drove away. Later the two men heard the demons complaining from the Himilinberc and asking if the stranger (Gallus) was still there.
