Gladsheim
Gladsheim ( old north : Glaðsheimr "Frohheim, Glanzheim") is one of the gods' palaces in Asgard and the residence of the god Odin in Norse mythology . Gladsheim is decorated with gold and precious stones. Valhalla , the otherworldly abode of fallen warriors, is in Gladsheim.
"Gladsheim is the name of the fifth, where Walhall's
wide hall shimmers golden :
Odin pests himself every day
men slain by the sword."
- Edda , Grímnismál , verse 8
Modern use
Terms like Gladsheim and Asgard are occasionally mentioned in music songs - often by metal bands like Manowar and Amon Amarth . Gladsheim is represented there as a safe and indomitable fortress.
