history

There is evidence of a Stone Age settlement on the western edge of the village .

To the south-east of the village, on a ledge that slopes steeply on all sides, remains of the wall of Adlerstein Castle , also known as "Alten Bürg", also known as "Altenstein" and "Adlerstein", whose origins and history are still unclear. The name suggests that the predecessor castle of Wellheim Castle stood here. In 1398 a Stephan Groß about the old castle is mentioned. There is also a legend about a knight named Groß.

From time immemorial, Aicha belonged administratively to the nearby Konstein, which had been in the territory of Pfalz-Neuburg since the early 16th century . In 1809 Konstein, Aicha and Wielandshöfe were formed into the Konstein tax district and left as a political municipality in 1811 and 1818. Initially belonging to the Monheim district court , the community came to the Eichstätt district court in 1857, and since the regional reform in 1972 to the Eichstätt district.

The local Catholic chapel with a niche-like choir and a ridge turret with a helmet roof, a branch church of the parish of Wellheim, dates from the first half of the 19th century. In 1983 the village consisted of six full-time farms and an inn. The population has fluctuated around 60 since the 19th century; the maximum number was 73 in 1950.
