Unterweikertshofen is first mentioned in a document in 1126 as "Wicharteshoven" . In 1126, a foundation letter from the Undenstorff monastery (Indersdorf) mentions that the lord of the castle Ulrich von Weickertzhouen donated his estate in Oberroth to the monastery. Around 1138 a "Wichertshofen" was called. In the middle of the 13th century the castle is at the Schiltberg office. In 1427 the place had a village court. From 1440 there was a Hofmark in Unterweikertshofen . The Unterweikertshofen Castle was rebuilt in 1616 by Sebastian von Adelzhausen instead of a Gothic complex. The lords of the court were the Counts of Preysing (from 1625), Khuen von Belas (1719) and the Counts of Hundt (from 1799). From 1707 a small pilgrimage under the name "Madonna in the Beech" was made in Unterweikertshofen for half a century.

On July 1, 1972, the community gave up its independence. Together with three other communities from the Dachau district and the Kleinberghofen community from the Aichach district , it formed the new Erdweg community.
