Hofmark
In a deed of donation dated July 31, 835, in which a couple named Alprich and Imma and their son Deacon Zotto transferred their property to Auwolfstetin to the nearby Schlehdorf Monastery, the name Ohlstadt appears for the first time in writing for the village under Heimgarten.
Finds in Weichs in the local area go back to the Celtic times. According to the finds in the Schauenburg (Schauenburg shards), settlement can be traced back to the Middle to Late Bronze Age around 1700 to 1250 BC. Prove. Ohlstadt is old cultural soil, which was also crossed by Romans, Teutons and Huns in antiquity.
To the south-east of Ohlstadt, the Veste Schauenburg , the old castrum Skoyenburg , rises up on a ledge at 904 m as the oldest hilltop castle in the Loisach valley. In 1096 Rudolf von Owelstadt was the owner of the castle.
The Hofmarch Ollstadt , which bought the Schlehdorf Monastery in 1493 and then exercised lower jurisdiction until 1803, developed from the rulership around the Schauenburg . During the reign of the monastery, the old, historic castle fell into disrepair, and so there are no building remains today.
Ohlstadt belonged to the Schlehdorf Monastery . The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark , which was abolished in 1803 with the monastery .
