The village of Ohlenstedt ( Ohlenst in Low German ) is a district of the city of Osterholz-Scharmbeck in the Osterholz district in Lower Saxony with around 600 inhabitants.

Geographical location

Ohlenstedt is about 9 km north of the main town of Osterholz-Scharmbeck on Kreisstraße 16.

history

The first documented mention of Ohlenstedt is documented on March 13, 1139. Ohlenstedt lost its status as an independent municipality in the course of the Lower Saxony municipal reform on March 1, 1974.

The coat of arms, which had to be recreated because the municipality had no coat of arms in earlier times, consists of a wagon wheel with five spokes. On the spokes and in the middle of the wagon wheel are the names of the six districts Alt Ohlenstedt , Bilohe , Büttel , Haslah “Feldhof” and Vorwohlde .

The local recreation area at the Ohlenstedter spring lakes has significance beyond the town limits .

Ohlenstedt owns a sports club, VfL Ohlenstedt. He currently has a football division - including youth teams - and a volleyball division.

Ohlenstedt has a primary school, a city-sponsored children's play area and a Waldorf kindergarten. Numerous farms take part in the “Farm as a learning place” project.
