Gustaaf Willem Adolf Wolf (Guus) Lutjens (born August 13, 1884 in Arnhem , † April 25, 1974 ) was a Dutch football player . He played 14 international matches for the Dutch national football team and scored five goals.

career

The offensive player "Lot" Lutjens was already an outstanding striker in the first class of Dutch football when he attacked Velocitas Breda (Cadettenvereeniging Velocitas Breda) . He stormed up to and including the round 1905/06 - HBS Den Haag won the final against PW Enschede - for the military team from Breda. He was therefore also on April 30, 1905 in the first official international match of the "Elftal", which played against Belgium in Antwerp. Together with his club mates Ben Stom in defense and Eddy de Neveas a center forward, the half-forward Lutjens was in action in the 4-1 win after extra time. Eddy de Neve excelled as a four-time goalscorer. In the second leg on May 14th in Rotterdam, he scored his first goal for the national team in a 4-0 win. The third international match took place in Antwerp against Belgium, where the hosts prevailed with 5-0 goals. It debuted at the side of "Lot" Lutjens on the center forward position Mannes Francken . For the 1906/07 season, Lutjens stormed for HVV Den Haag .

With the Dutch champions from 1900 to 1903 and 1905, the newcomer from Breda immediately became champions in 1906/07 in the two finals against PW Enschede (5: 3/4: 1). The first international match for "Oranje" as an active player from HVV Den Haag he completed on May 9, 1907 in Harlem against Belgium. In the 1: 2 defeat, club colleagues John Heijning , Karel Heijning and Constant Feith were also used. When Lutjens was able to celebrate the second championship success with HVV in the 1909/10 season - finals on May 2 and 16 against Quick Nijmegen with 2: 0/3: 2 - he was previously at 4: 2 on April 24, 1910 Home success against the German national soccer team as a goal scorer to mean 1: 1. In his twelfth assignment in the "Elftal" he won a friendly game against Germany on October 16, 1910 in Kleve with 2-1 goals. Club colleague Miel van Leijden was on defense. With his 14th international match on April 2, 1911 in Dordrecht in a 3-1 win against Belgium, Lutjens said goodbye to the national team.
