Scharmbeckstotel ( Low German Scharmbeekstotel ) is the southernmost district of the county town of Osterholz-Scharmbeck in the Lower Saxony district Osterholz .

Geographical location

Scharmbeckstotel is located south of the Lange Heide, a Geest plateau on which numerous rivers have their headwaters; The Wienbeck rises north of Scharmbeckstotel and flows into the Scharmbeck Bach . First mention

The first mention is attested by a document from the year 1218, in which the enfeoffment of a farm by the monastery in Osterholz was documented.

Settlement of the brick moor

Due to the heavy traffic, the residents resisted a continuation of the settlement in the so-called “Ziegelmoor” in 2006, as the total traffic collapse on the B 74 was feared at rush hour. At the end of May 2006 the project was stopped by the city council's planning committee.

The coat of arms of the former municipality of Scharmbeckstotel consists of the two colors green and silver. The green color is intended to highlight the agricultural character of the municipality. The silver color was taken from the national colors of the archbishopric . In the upper part a horn is depicted, this is the result of a traditional custom according to which the incumbent mayor is given a horn with the names of all previous mayors engraved for the duration of his term of office. A mill wheel is shown in the lower part. It indicates the watermill of the place.
