Norman Ollestad (born May 30, 1967 ) is an American writer.

Ollestad was born to Norman and Doris Ollestad and grew up in a hippie enclave on a beach south of Malibu . The father named his son “Boy Wonder” - perhaps because the eleven-year-old was Southern California youth champion in downhill skiing . In addition, the father trained the boy as a hockey player and surf rider . In 1979 the father was killed in an airplane accident. The tragedy provided the son with the material for the bestseller " Addicted to the storm ". The book was published in 2009. Fischer published the German edition a year later.

Ollestad began working on his successful text in 2006 and previously studied creative writing at the University of California, Los Angeles .

The author is married. The couple lives with their son in Venice near Los Angeles .
