geography

Türkenfeld is about 14 km southwest of Fürstenfeldbruck and 37 km west of Munich . At 624 meters above sea level, the “Steingassenberg” in Türkenfeld is the highest point in the Fürstenfeldbruck district.

The municipality has six officially named municipality parts (the type of settlement is given in brackets ):

history

The former castle , today the seat of the municipal administration

The first documentary mention of Türkenfeld comes from the Breves Notatiae of 749 as "Duringueld". The name goes back to the personal name "Durinc" and only changed to Türkenfeld under the influence of the Turkish Wars .

The history of the settlement goes back to the Neolithic , from which a stool grave with presumably string ceramic grave goods comes from. Around 15 burial mounds date from the Bronze or Hallstatt Period. A probably destroyed Viereckschanze from the La Tène period lies west of Zankenhausen.

Row grave fields from the early Middle Ages can be found north of Türkenfeld and Peutenmühle as well as the fortification section in Burgholz east of Burgholz.

In 1818 the municipality of Türkenfeld was formed with the municipality of Klotzau. In the same year, Zankenhausen was founded as a community with the parts of Burgholz, Peutenmühle and Pleitmannswang. Burgholz went to the community of Türkenfeld in 1878. The unification of the communities of Türkenfeld and Zankenhausen finally took place on January 1, 1972.

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 2,680 to 3,720 by 1,040 inhabitants or 38.8%.

politics

The local council is composed as follows in the current electoral term :

  • CSU 7 seats (party provides first mayor Pius Keller and second mayor Emanuel Staffler)
  • Village community 5 seats

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on November 5th, 1971 by the government of Upper Bavaria.

Blazon : “By a stake tied in two rows of silver and red, split by black and silver; Two golden maces crossed diagonally at the front, three blue linden leaves on a looped handle at the back. "

The red and white picket, as a sloping beam, heraldic symbol of the Cistercians, establishes a connection to the Cistercian Abbey of Fürstenfeld, which was important as the manor in the municipality. The crossed maces come from the coat of arms of the local aristocratic family of the Türkenfelder (von Durgenfeld), which can be traced for the first time at the end of the 12th century and whose ownership passed partly to the Fürstenfeld monastery and partly to the later Adelshofmark Türkenfeld in the 14th century. The linden leaves on the looped stem are taken from the coat of arms of the Staudinger family, who were the owners of the Hofmark Türkenfeld from 1569 to 1598.

The coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Heinz C. Bessling from Gauting.

Economy and Infrastructure

traffic

The Türkenfeld stop is on the Munich – Lindau railway line and is served by line 4 of the Munich S-Bahn .

Broadband

Since 2009, the municipality has been working hard to improve broadband coverage. After around 70% of the households in Türkenfeld could be won over for a fiber optic connection, the municipality implemented its own fiber optic network together with the partner company "Unser Ortsnetz GmbH". The first households went online on August 5, 2013. After the takeover of Unser Ortsnetz GmbH, the fiber optic network is now operated by Deutsche Glasfaser GmbH .
