history

Until the church is planted

People from the Mesolithic , Neolithic , probably the Hallstatt and Latène periods settled in the Jesenwang district . An iron double pyramid bar has been found as a single find from the Latène period. Settlement finds and a cremation burial site from the Roman Empire (including a Roman lime kiln ) were made underground. In addition, three early medieval row graves and a settlement from the early Middle Ages with post buildings and pit houses are proven .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 773 as Oasinwanc . The parish was Jesenwang since 1314 through a donation by the Freising Bishop Gottfried the Monastery Fürstenfeld incorporated. The monastery was also an important landlord until secularization in 1803. The place belonged to the Rentamt München and the Landsberg Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . After the political community was founded in 1818 , the first school building was built in 1825.

Mayor and City Council

Erwin Fraunhofer (CSU / Civic Association Jesenwang / Pfaffenhofen) has been mayor since May 1, 2014. He was confirmed in office for another six years on March 15, 2020 with 92.87% of the vote.

The municipal council for the 2020–2026 term of office consists of six council members from the CSU / citizen community (50.5% of the votes) and six from the unity community (49.5%). The turnout was 67.43%.

The Catholic parish church of St. Michael dates from the late Gothic period and was changed to Baroque style. The nave was rebuilt in 1922/23.

A little outside of the actual village on the road to Fürstenfeldbruck is the pilgrimage church of St. Willibald from the 15th century (laying of the foundation stone: 1414; extension: 1478). It is one of the few late medieval country churches in Upper Bavaria that has remained almost unchanged and contains the largest and most important Gothic flat ceiling in Old Bavaria, painted with 594 flowers and 561 stars, dating from 1478. The fields of the net vault in the apse show tendril ornaments; A fresco depicting a monk has survived on the north wall of the apse . The figure-adorned high altar is a creation of the late Renaissance . The side altars with paintings are from 1620. The annual Willibald ride , which leads through the church, goes back to a vow made in 1712, when a cattle disease threatened the horses. Only in Jesenwang is the veneration of St. Willibald proves to be the cattle patron . In 1779 the church was rebuilt. Only a few of the previously numerous votive tablets are still in the church (loss due to theft).
There is a St. Willibald Association.

The “Maria Trost” chapel (so-called plague chapel). The rotunda was built in 1656 and renewed in 1751.

Bergkirchen has a Catholic church of St. Maria , which was built at the end of the 14th / beginning of the 15th century and converted to Baroque style in the 18th century.

The St. Georg branch church in the Pfaffenhofen district still has baroque stucco ceilings.

In 2017 there were 307 jobs subject to social security contributions in the municipality. Of the resident population, 714 people were in employment subject to compulsory insurance. This means that the number of out-commuters was 307 more than that of in-commuters. 12 residents were unemployed. In 2016 there were 19 farms.

In addition, the Jesenwang airfield and a test site for TÜV Süd are located in the municipality .

Volunteer firefighter

The Jesenwang volunteer fire brigade has a fire fighting vehicle 10/10 (LF 10/10) and a fire fighting vehicle 8/6 (LF 8/6). Both vehicles are housed in the fire station at Am Keltenbogen 8 in Jesenwang. The Pfaffenhofen volunteer fire brigade is also located in the municipality. This has a portable pump vehicle (TSF) that is housed in a separate fire station at Erlbachstrasse 5 in the Pfaffenhofen district.
