Maisach is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Fürstenfeldbruck . It is located about four kilometers north of Fürstenfeldbruck and 25 kilometers west of Munich . In terms of area, Maisach is the largest municipality in the district.

Until the church is planted

The first documentary mention of Maisach comes from the year 806. There are also documents from the second half of the 8th century and the first half of the 9th century for the other parts of the community with the exception of Gernlinden. The name Gernlinden was first mentioned in 1436.

In 1818 the community was formed.

Gernlinden

The Gernlinden settlement was built after the First World War.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1978, the main part of the dissolved municipality of Malching was incorporated. On May 1, 1978, the previously independent communities of Germerswang, Rottbach and Überacker were added.

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 10,079 to 14,179 by 4,100 inhabitants or by 40.7%. The population figures from 1840 onwards relate to the current area of ​​the municipality (as of May 25, 1987).

The 1st mayor has been Hans Seidl (CSU) since May 1, 2008. He was confirmed in office on March 15, 2020 against three competitors with 53.29% of the votes. 2nd mayor is Roland Müller, 3rd mayor is Waltraut Wellenstein.

The medieval folk rock band Schandmaul and the Pagan Metal band Equilibrium were founded in the Gernlinden district.

Regular events

A folk festival (Maisacher Festival Week) takes place in Maisach every year from the end of August to the beginning of September.

A carnival procession has been taking place in the Gernlinden district for years . Foot groups and trolleys are assessed separately.

Every two years, a fountain festival with a medieval market is organized by the Gernlinden fanfare train in Gernlinden.

The municipality of Maisach is crossed by the Munich – Augsburg railway line . In addition to the train station in the main town itself, the Malching and Gernlinden districts also have a breakpoint. They are all served by the S 3 line of the Munich S-Bahn . From Maisach there is a 20-minute cycle in the direction of Munich, which is compressed to a 10-minute cycle during rush hour. The A8 motorway runs north of the municipality . In addition, the Fürstenfeldbruck airfield is largely located in the Maisacher municipality.
