Dominions in northern Salzburggau in the High Middle Ages

Heiligkreuz (older spelling: Heilig Kreuz ) is a rural town in the northern district of Traunstein . Since 1978 it has been a district of the Upper Bavarian city of Trostberg .

history

The area was originally part of the County of Lebenau and, after the Lebenau family died out in 1229, it belonged to the Archbishopric of Salzburg as part of the northern Salzburggau until secularization in 1802/03 (synonymous with Archbishopric Salzburg ). It was not until 1816 that Heiligkreuz finally came to Bavaria with the Rupertiwinkel and was part of the Tittmoning regional court district. With the Bavarian municipal edict of 1818, the political community Heiligkreuz was established, which in 1933 had 847 inhabitants. On May 1, 1978, this was incorporated into the city of Trostberg as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

The eponymous church Heilig Kreuz is a late Gothic Nagelfluh block building. The two-aisled nave with a tower attached to the south was built in three sections from the middle of the 15th century to 1482.
