Josef Dürnegger (born October 26, 1869 in Asham ; † September 15, 1952 in Samerberg ) was an Upper Bavarian homeland researcher and Catholic clergyman .

Dürnegger was 1895 in Freising for ordained priests . He then worked for three years as a cooperator in the Rohrdorf parish , three years as an expositus in Beyharting , eight years as vicar in Törwang and 43 years as pastor in Törwang. From 1901 to 1952, for half a century, he was a pastor at Samerberg . The branches of Grainbach , Roßholzen and Steinkirchen belong to the Törwang Catholic Parish Office (Pfarrverband Rohrdorf in the district of Rosenheim ), which was subordinate to him . For 25 years he was dean of the Landkapitel Schloßberg in the district of Rosenheim.

In addition to his pastoral work, he dealt intensively with the history of the villages in the Samerberg region and that of some neighboring villages. He wrote local chronicles about the residential area at Samerberg as well as about Neubeu , Nussdorf am Inn and Rohrdorf . He was also co-author of a chronicle of the Amerang parish , from whose Asham his family came from. Dürnegger was most recently dean and clergyman .

On a ceiling painting in the nave of the parish church of the Assumption of Mary in Törwang, which was rebuilt in 1923/24 and was given a nave with a vestibule at that time, Pastor Josef Dürnegger is shown with the rolled up church plan in his left hand at the head of a procession of Samerbergers. In the painting, which the Munich painter Sebastian Hausinger created in 1923, Dürnegger is accompanied by chaplain Josef Birnkammer, the soldier Josef Lagler, the sacristan Josef Willkommer and other Samerbergers. Next to it is a view of the town of Törwang. The artist himself portrayed himself on the lower edge of the painting as a man wringing hands in purgatory (see also: web links).
