Sebastian Dachauer (born August 19, 1778 in Neunburg vorm Wald in the Upper Palatinate ; † February 24, 1863 in Fischbach am Inn ) was a German theologian and Upper Bavarian homeland researcher .

Dachauer's baptismal name was Wolfgang. In 1796 he graduated from the electoral high school in Munich (today Wilhelmsgymnasium Munich ) and then completed the compulsory basic course (= philosophy) at the adjoining lyceum. In 1798 he entered the Augustinian order in Munich and was given the name Sebastian. After studying theology , he was ordained a priest on September 19, 1801. Until 1807 he worked as an assistant priest in Aufkirchen. Then he was in school in Brannenburg . In this position he dealt intensively with the history of the upper Inn Valley and the Rosenheim district . He wrote numerous essays on the history of Upper Bavaria , most of which he published in the Upper Bavarian Archive , the organ of the Historical Association for Upper Bavaria . Together with his brother Gottfried, who was mayor there, in 1841 he also published a two-volume local chronicle about his native town Neunburg vorm Wald . Dachauer died on February 24, 1863 in Fischbach am Inn; his body was buried in Brannenburg at his request.
