history

Mockersdorf is very old. There was already a settlement in the Carolingian era , as demonstrated by a row of burial grounds discovered at the beginning of the 20th century. The place was first mentioned in writing in 1244. From 1385 to 1436 Mockersdorf was owned by the Nuremberg burgraves, then it became part of the Upper Palatinate .

On the occasion of the regional reform , the previously independent municipality of Mockersdorf was dissolved on July 1, 1972. Their area was divided into the communities Neustadt am Kulm (with the place Mockersdorf ) and Speichersdorf.

Mockersdorf is still its own parish today. It is one of the original parishes of the Upper Palatinate.

School system

A teacher was named in Mockersdorf as early as 1580 . The compulsory education was introduced in 1800 and until 1969 there was a primary school in the village.

In 1829 the local pastor of Mockersdorf founded “Dr. phil.theol. s.can. “Anton Schreiner started a Latin school and made three rooms available in the rectory. He taught not only the required high school subjects, but also the Italian, French and Hebrew languages. In the district of the district courts of Kemnath, Tirschenreuth and Waldsassen there was no other Latin school at the time.
