St. Michael Mockersdorf

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Michael in Mockersdorf was in 1391 the cathedral chapter to Regensburg incorporated. From 1738 to 1746 it was rebuilt by the city mason Johann Lösch from Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate .

From March 2016 to December 2017 the interior of the church including the sacristy was completely renovated. On this occasion, a second portal was also installed on the west side of the church.

Furnishing

The furnishings of the church are kept in the Rococo style. It has a retracted choir in the east tower with rounded corners and a mirrored ceiling. The nave to three window axes has a mirror ceiling and stitch caps. The connection to the choir is segment-shaped. The sacristy is north of the choir. The tower is equipped with a domed roof and a lantern .

The church tower dome originally had varnished shingles and was covered with tinplate in 1844, with slate in 1911 and with copper sheeting in 2004.

Stucco

The church has a rich interior . Pilasters enliven the walls. In the choir and nave there are bars, flower vases and stucco grindings on the ceiling . Plastic putti with cartouches were created above the choir arch around 1750 .

painting

In the nave there is a large central painting: After the defeat of Lucifer, the nine angel choirs pay homage to the Holy Trinity , the seraphim with flaming hearts, the cherubim with globe and telescope , the thrones with purple canopies . The representation of the nine choirs makes it iconographically interesting with moving, dramatic scenes. The four evangelists are depicted in the corners of the ceiling . The smoke offering of the 24 elders after the apocalypse Cp. V is shown in the choir painting. At the choir arch are Mary and the Archangel Gabriel .

Stand still, wanderer, and listen!

The singer and swan of his own funeral song
Johann Christoph Windisch,
in the premonition of his last hour, directed
prayers to God and a very lovely song.
Carrying Christ in his heart, in his mouth and on his shoulders,
He got himself the purple death gown,
The true wedding robe, So
that he would appear as a guest invited by God.
He chose planks instead of a loculus,
worried about his 74-year-old body.
Hit by a blow, he
surrendered his soul to God on November 16,
a man of stately appearance and inner size.
The table (?) Was set by the swan and son who followed (?)
In 1728.
Go, wanderer, pray for me!
Your hour is also approaching.
