Joseph Weigert (born July 14, 1870 in Kelheim , † September 9, 1946 in Großenpinning ) was a German Roman Catholic pastor , writer and farmer in Mockersdorf .

Live and act

Joseph Weigert was the son of a glazier and later attended the humanistic grammar school in Metten . After graduating from high school with the Benedictines in Metten, Weigert moved to the Regensburg seminary . After completion of studies at the philosophical-theological college he was on 16 June 1895 Regensburg Cathedral for ordained priests .

He then worked as a cooperator in Schwarzach near Nabburg , Lindkirchen in der Hallertau , Burglengenfeld and Tirschenreuth .

From October 1900 to October 1931 he worked as a pastor in the parish of St. Michael (Mockersdorf) , cultivated most of the meadows and fields of the parish plots with three servants and also wrote 13 books during this time.

Ludwig III. (Bavaria) awarded him the King Ludwig Cross in June 1917 for services during the war. In 1925 the communities of Mockersdorf and Plössen granted him honorary citizenship . In 1931 the municipality of Ramlesreuth also granted him honorary citizenship.

From October 29, 1931 to 1939 pastor in Sarching near Donaustauf. In 1939, at the age of almost 70, he retired and spent this until his death in the small Gäubodendorf Grossenpinning in the middle of the Bavarian granary.
