Hummeltal is a municipality in the Bayreuth district ( Upper Franconia administrative district ). The place of the same name is both the capital and the seat of the municipal administration.

Geographical location
The community is located about eight kilometers southwest of Bayreuth in a scenic area on the northern edge of Franconian Switzerland .

history
Until the church is planted
The area of today's municipality of Hummeltal belonged to the Principality of Bayreuth and from 1500 to the Franconian Empire . In the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 it fell to France and came to Bavaria in 1810 .
In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, the municipal edict of 1818 created the municipalities of Creez (partially), Pettendorf and Pittersdorf. These were combined in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria on April 1, 1971 to form the municipality of Hummeltal.
Incorporations
On May 1, 1978, the Hinterkleebach community was incorporated and formed the spatially separated southern part of the extended community area. With the dissolution of the community-free area Lindenhardter Forst-Nordwest , the western part of which was also incorporated into Hummeltal, a spatially closed community area was created on January 1, 2020.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 1998, according to official statistics, there were no employees at work subject to social security contributions in the manufacturing industry or in the trade and transport sector. In other economic sectors 169 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 1183 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There was one company in the manufacturing sector and four companies in the main construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 87 farms with an agriculturally used area of 1694 hectares, of which 810 hectares were arable land and 883 hectares were permanent green space.
The municipal tax revenue in 1999 was the equivalent of € 1,389,000, of which the equivalent of € 264,000 (net) was trade tax income.
