Radenzgau
The Radenzgau was a medieval Gaugrafschaft that was detached from the Volkfeld by the Carolingians in the 8th century .
location
The Radenzgau essentially coincides with today's administrative district of Upper Franconia , but Bamberg and parts of the Steigerwald , the Fichtelgebirge and the Vogtland were missing . In the south the rivers Regnitz , the southern Franconian Schwabach and Pegnitz formed its natural borders; here it meets the north gau .
