history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1741 as a "stone house". According to a description of the location from 1858, it is said to have been a shepherd's apartment belonging to a castle in the north, which the place name could also indicate: many castles were simply called stone (see Stein Castle ). However, there is no trace of the castle in question. It is also possible to derive it from a property known by name as “Stanwald” since the 14th century (now called Steinleite), which owes its name to the stony subsoil.

As a result of the municipality edict stone was in 1811 the tax district and the Rural Municipality Busbach assigned on 1 May 1978 at the course of administrative reform in Bavaria was incorporated into the municipality Eckersdorf.
