Lohe is a district of the municipality of Eckersdorf in the Bayreuth district in Upper Franconia ( Bavaria ).

geography

The Hermannsbach rises south-east of the hamlet , a left tributary of the mistletoe, which is a left tributary of the Red Main . South of Lohe is one as Arzloch called Rhätsandsteinschlucht with a 3-4 m high waterfall. Approx. The Lohreuth corridor is 0.5 kilometers to the southwest.

A service road forks in Lohe and leads north to Eckersdorf and east as a dirt road to the hamlet of Hardt. The road leads to the southwest in the direction of Mistelgau and is an agriculturally used connecting route. This path is joined by a path coming from the south through the Lohreuth valley, which leads to Mistelbach and is mainly used for agriculture.

history

The place name is derived from the Middle High German lôch , which comes from either the Latin lucus (forest, grove, wood, bushes, bushes) or labina, palus (swamp meadow, wetland).

To the south of the hamlet is a parcel named Burgstall. In the west there is an area called the castle. Both point to an older medieval fortified settlement. Presumably it is the Obernreut castle estate mentioned in Landbuch A of the Nuremberg burgrave. Another indication of localization is the fiefdom of Obernreut to the Tandorffers, who had their castle seat in the rear Donndorf. As recently as 1850, the former seats of the Dondorf aristocracy - which have since been converted into agricultural properties - can be found in the Lohreuth corridor. This means that the Obernreut castle estate can be identified as a medieval settlement either in the Lohe settlement itself or in the immediate vicinity. A connection with the nearby Hermannsbach, Hermannsberg and Hermannsbühl would be plausible and should be found in the first name of the founder of this settlement. At the beginning of the 15th century the place was already desolate.

Today's hamlet Lohe was probably built in the 17th century. Up until the beginning of the 20th century, an inn with licensing and slaughtering rights was operated in Lohe. The slaughter and bar justice went to the tavern in the Salamander valley.

The former pond north of the hamlet was called Mühlweiher in 1850. It is possible that this name was confused with the Mühlweiher, located about 700 m to the northwest, or the Lohe-Weiher was actually used as an additional water reservoir for the Eckersdorfer Mühle (former house number 33).

The place has belonged to the political municipality of Eckersdorf since the municipal edict in the 19th century.
