history

Tröbersdorf is a medieval settlement on the "Hohen Strasse" that led from Bayreuth to Bamberg . The place was first mentioned in 1234 as "Trebesdorf", in 1401 as "Trebersdorfe". The meaning of the place name is unclear, it may contain the male personal name Tröber, a derivation from the name Drudbod (power lord), which could be regarded as the founder. In the land register of the Burggräflichen Amt Bayreuth from 1398 there is a record of a chapel in the village. This so-called chapel was oversized with its dimensions for such a small place, which is why one can assume that the chapel was originally a pilgrimage church.

The settlers originally had to pay their interest to the Bamberg Monastery, but were under the rule of the Meranians or their legal successors, the Margraves of Brandenburg-Kulmbach . In the 16th century it was separated from the diocese of Bamberg. In 1636 this led to the fact that the Bambergs let the church burn down to the ground.

With the community edict (early 19th century) Tröbersdorf was assigned to the rural community of Oberwaiz . On May 1, 1978 this was incorporated into the municipality of Eckersdorf as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
