history

Matzenberg, formerly also known as Steinbühl, belonged to the Donndorf rural community with the municipal edict in the 19th century . It was probably created in the 18th century. It probably got its name from one of its residents, the farmer Matthäus Rettner, whose descendants were known as the "Matzen" or "Matzenberger". On May 1, 1978 this was incorporated into the municipality of Eckersdorf as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
