Trockau is a district of the town of Pegnitz on the eastern slope of the Franconian Switzerland , lies at an altitude of 485  m above sea level. NN and has 470 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2015). The next larger city, Bayreuth , is about 15 kilometers north of Trockau. At the time the community became independent, Trockau was a market.

history

The Trockau Castle first appeared in a document in 1273. The castle is owned by the Groß von Trockau family . The castle has been destroyed several times since the middle of the 15th century. In the castle area, the Trockau Castle was built from 1769 to 1779 .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent market was incorporated into the town of Pegnitz.

Trockau is located directly on the Federal Motorway 9 ( Munich - Berlin ), one of the busiest motorways in Europe . As part of the expansion of the motorway to six lanes, the Trockau viaduct was opened to traffic in 2002 .

The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .

Attractions

  • The Trockau Castle was built in its present form between 1769 and 1779. The castle chapel attached to a fortification tower of the former Trockau Castle was also the chapel for the local population until the church was built in 1950. The castle grounds are privately owned by the Groß von Trockau family and cannot be visited.
