Oberhauenstein is a district of the town of Pegnitz in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in Bavaria .
The place is located northwest of Pegnitz an der Püttlach , an approximately 28 km long left tributary of the Wiesent . The Grießbach flows into the Püttlach north of the village .
The district road BT 26 leads through the village . The A 9 runs further east.
