Neustadt Pegnitz
Around the middle of the 14th century, the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg built the new fortified town of Pegnitz on the back of an elevation next to the older, village market settlement of Begenz, today's old town. The Neustadt ( location ) has all the characteristics of a Gothic city foundation: the east-west running main street, originally stretched between the two, not preserved city gates, widens evenly to the west to a space in which the town hall is placed. The street market is accompanied on both sides by a parallel street, the Brauhausgasse in the north and the Rosengasse in the south. The church district faces away from the street market, it is located on the south-western outskirts of the city. Uniform parcelling corresponds to the clear floor plan. The streets are each accompanied by closed rows of narrow, deep lots. The main street and the two-line Rosengasse in its middle are determined in their appearance by the row of gabled houses. The larger town houses on Hauptstraße and the more modestly proportioned craftsmen's houses in Rosengasse correspond to the gradient of the streets. The gabled houses essentially belong to the 17th / 18th centuries. Century on, the eaves side houses are in the 18./19. Century originated. In the south of the city, where for defense purposes 1515–1577 and later the Pegnitz was dammed up to the pond, there is a wide garden area, limited to the south of the Pegnitz. File number: E-4-72-175-1.

- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
