Ensembles
Ensemble old town Goldkronach
Goldkronach was elevated to a town in 1365 and gained great importance in the late Middle Ages due to gold and silver mining. The place, which has never received a city wall - only Etter and Schlagbaum - has a clear floor plan: the north-south through road (Bernecker and Bayreuther Straße) is preceded by an elongated market square to the east. The market square with a fountain rises slightly to the east and is traversed diagonally in its entire length by the open canalised Kronach. Rows of trees accompany the stream. The eastern end of the square is formed by the tower front of the neo-Gothic parish church. The north-west running Bachgasse and the Sickenreuther Strasse leading to the south-east are oriented towards the market square, in which the development of the market square to the north is continued. The Sickenreuther, Bernecker and Bayreuther Straße form closed spatial images through bends in their course. The clarity of the urban design is increased by a uniform development from the Biedermeier period: after the city fires of 1836 and 1839, the site was rebuilt according to fixed building regulations with straightened building lines. Closed rows of mostly two-story eaves side houses made of sandstone blocks with hipped and half-hipped roofs line the streets and enclose the market square. An essential part of the place and its historical development is the knight castle of the 16./18. Century. File number E-4-72-143-1

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
