The Black Hills Corporation is an electricity and gas supplier based in Rapid City in South Dakota and for more than 30 years at the New York Stock Exchange listed.

Through its subsidiaries, the company supplies around 762,000 customers in Colorado , Iowa , Kansas , Montana , Nebraska , South Dakota and Wyoming with electricity and gas.

history

Black Hills Corporation was founded in 1941 through the merger of General Public Utilities, Inc. and the Dakota Power Company, which supplied almost all of western South Dakota with electricity. In 2007, Black Hills took over parts of the former Aquila Inc. and expanded its supply area to the states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa.
