The Trockau Viaduct is a 602 m long bridge on the Federal Highway 9 . It was built as part of the six-lane expansion of the motorway ( traffic project German Unity No. 12 ) between 1998 and 2001, at a cost of around 27 million euros.

The bridge lies between the interchanges Trockau and Pegnitz and crosses a valley east of the village of Trockau. In the area of the Trockauer Berg, the gradient of the old motorway route had a maximum incline of up to seven percent, the minimum curve radii were 350 m. Therefore, as part of the six-lane expansion, it was re-routed over the Trockauer Berg with a three percent incline, which the structure made necessary. For this purpose, two farm roads are spanned with nine fields at a maximum height of 40 m.

Superstructures

The two adjacent superstructures of the prestressed concrete bridge are continuous girders with a box-girder cross-section and a construction height of 3.5 m. In the area of the long central fields, the superstructure is haunched and has a maximum construction height of 6.5 m above the pillars. The superstructure is prestressed in the longitudinal and transverse directions , the longitudinal prestressing consists only of external tendons . The spans of the nine-span structure are 51 m, 55 m, 60 m, 85 m, 100 m, 85 m, 60 m, 55 m and 51 m.

execution

The bridge was constructed in eleven construction phases with a 128 m long telescopic arm . Since the armor could only span a maximum of 62 m long spans, three auxiliary supports were installed in the three long central fields.
