Dörnhof is a western part of the city of Bayreuth in Upper Franconia with around 115 inhabitants.

The village of Dörnhof is about six kilometers west of Bayreuth at an altitude of 412  m above sea level. NN . To the east of the village, the terrain descends towards the valley of the Red Main , to the north and west is the extensive Heinersreuther Forst forest .

history

About 400 m east of the historic town center is a four hectare grave field with leveled burial mounds from prehistoric times, which is protected as a ground monument. The Bavarian original cadastre shows Dörnhof as a cluster village with 18 hearths in the 1810s . On July 1, 1976 Dörnhof was reclassified to Bayreuth as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

Transport and infrastructure

The place is still predominantly agricultural today.

The main road BTs 14 runs through Dörnhof and connects the village in the north with Heinersreuth and to the federal highway 85 and in the south with Eckersdorf . In the center of the village it is crossed by Dörnhofer Straße , which, as an extension, leads via Oberpreuschwitz towards the city ​​center .

The local public transport opens up the place with two stops of the VGN bus line 307 to the central bus stop (ZOH) Bayreuth.

The soccer club ASV Oberpreuschwitz based in Dörnhof occupies a large part of the Dörnhof area.
