Name and story

Rodersberg on the Riediger map from 1745

Originally the approx. 400 m above sea level. NN. located hill only inhabited by farmers. The place was named after a family named Roder who had lived there since the 14th century.

Presumably already in the early Middle Ages there was a castle of the Lords of Laineck on an artificial plateau. The neck ditch and dry stone walls are still present . It is said to have been one of the largest fortifications of the early Middle Ages in Upper Franconia.

Until the regional reform , the village belonged to the former municipality of Laineck . On May 1, 1972, this was incorporated into Bayreuth.

description

In the last few decades the slope has been heavily built up. The development extends to that of the neighboring district of Laineck, from which Rodersberg is separated by the Steinach. The ASV Laineck sports field is located in the valley floor, and a golf course above the village.
