The church village is located in the Lochau valley on the northern edge of Franconian Switzerland with the elevations Ziegenberg ( 522  m above sea level , 0.8 km northeast) and Schirdigberg ( 533  m above sea level , 1.2 km east). The district road KU 7 leads to Trumsdorf (1.3 km south) or to Tannfeld (2.5 km northeast). A community road leads to Kleinhül to the district road KU 23 (3.2 km west).

Etymology of the place name

The place name appeared relatively late in documents: The oldest known name in an original document from 1433 is "Alachtorf". An older name as "Altdorf" from 1388 is only preserved as a copy from the 15th century. Other names up to 1500 were 1421 "Alachtdorf (f)", 1441 "Alhadorff", 1468 "Alerdorf", 1470/77 and 1500 "Alat (t) dorf". By comparing texts of early medieval writings, Gütter came to the conclusion that Alladorf is a Franconian place name, because the name type Alachdorf etc. only appeared in Franconian settlement communities. The place name should mean either a place with / near a church or a protected settlement.

history

Alladorf is one of the oldest Franconian-German settlements in the Kulmbach-Bayreuth area. This is proven by a burial ground a few hundred meters northeast of the Alladorfer Church, which has been occupied since the 8th century. The occupancy ended before the beginning of the 10th century. Presumably it was the cemetery of the town's founders and their descendants. Between 1955 (the year of discovery) and 1984, 228 graves were examined. It is the largest early medieval burial ground in northeastern Bavaria known to date. It can be assumed that such a large burial ground was connected to a church. In any case, Alladorf is an important testimony to the presence of Franconian settlers in the Kulmbach area at the latest at the beginning of the Carolingian era .

At the end of the 18th century, Alladorf consisted of 60 properties. The high court was exercised by the Bavarian Bailiwick of Wonsees . The village and community rulership was held by the Bavarian caste office Sanspareil . Were landlords

  • the Principality of Bayreuth (53 properties; Sanspareil caste office: 5 courtyards, 1 half courtyard, 2 courtyards, 3 half courtyards, 3 Söldengütlein , 1 Tropfsölde with bakery, 1 house with forge, 1 house with courtyard, 1 house, 1 half house, 1 drip house, 3 Tropfhäuslein; chancellery: 2 mills, 1 tavern, 1 bath room, 1 courtyard, 1 three-quarter courtyard, 2 half courtyards, 1 farm, 3 Sölden, 8 Sölden, 2 Sölden each with forge, 1 half Sölde, 1 house with meat bank, 1 house, 1 little house , 1 little drip house, 2 farmsteads; Parish Trumsdorf: 1 Halbsöldengut),

  • the manor Danndorf (1 house, 1 farmstead),
  • the Guttenberg manor (1 house),
  • the community of Alladorf (1 residential building).

In addition to the property there was also 1 church, 1 schoolhouse and 1 community pastor's house.

From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Sanspareil . With the municipal edict of 1811, the tax district Alladorf was formed, to which the towns of Lochau , Tannfeld and Trumsdorf belonged. With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Alladorf was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subject to the Hollfeld Regional Court and in financial administration to the Bayreuth Rent Office . In 1852 the community was transferred to the Thurnau Regional Court and in 1856 to the Thurnau Rent Office ( renamed the Thurnau Tax Office in 1919 ). In 1821 Tannfeld became an independent rural community. From 1862 Alladorf was administered by the Kulmbach District Office (renamed the Kulmbach District in 1939 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Thurnau until 1879, from 1879 district court of Thurnau . In 1929 jurisdiction was taken over by the Hollfeld district court and the financial administration by the Kulmbach tax office . The Bayreuth District Court has been responsible since 1959 . In 1961 the municipality had an area of 15.444 km².

On July 1, 1975, Alladorf was incorporated into the Thurnau market.
