Oberwolfsknock (colloquially: wulfsgnogg ) is a district of the Thurnau market in the Upper Franconian district of Kulmbach .

geography

The wasteland lies in the middle of a wooded hill. Farm roads lead to Hörlinreuth (1.2 km south-east) and Hutschdorf (0.5 km to the northeast).

history

The place was first mentioned in 1731 as a house with properties on the "Wolfsknock". In 1805 the place was first called "Oberer Wolfsknock" to distinguish it from the " Lower Wolfsknock " founded at that time . The basic word of the place name is knoc ( mhd. For neck, hump, hill), the defining word is the animal wolf .

Towards the end of the 18th century, Oberwolfsknock consisted of an estate. The High Court as well as the basic rule exercised the Giech'sche Office Thurnau from.

From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the patrimonial court of Thurnau . With the municipality edict, Oberwolfsknock was assigned to the tax district of Thurnau in 1811 and to the municipal municipality of Thurnau in 1818.
