Wannbach (colloquially: Wamboch ) is a district of the Pretzfeld market in the Forchheim district in Upper Franconia .

geography

The church village lies on the Trubach , the Thosbach and the Weißbachgraben, the latter two of which are right tributaries of the Trubach. It is surrounded on all sides by elevations of Franconian Switzerland : in the north by the Wachtknock ( 554  m above sea level ), in the south-east by the Wannbacher Berg ( 520  m above sea level ), in the south by the Rabenberg ( 463  m above sea level ) and in the north-west from Diederichstein ( 454  m above sea level ). The Diederichstein ruins are also located there .

history

In 1124 a "Pucco de Wannebach" was mentioned in a document. This is also the oldest evidence for Wannbach, which was the seat of this lower nobility. The defining word of the place name is the name Wanno of the founder of the settlement. The Lords of Wannbach originally had the manorial rule over the place. In 1493, the siblings Georg, Christoph and Elsbet von Wambach sold their uncle Konz von Egloffstein for 12,000 & gulden to free the castle and all its belonging . In 1525 the castle was completely destroyed in the Peasants' War.

In 1505 the place came to the Bamberg diocese and was subordinate to the Bamberg office of Ebermannstadt . In 1764 the Counts of Seinsheim were enfeoffed with Wannbach. Of particular importance was the cattle trade, which at that time was carried out by the Jews living there.

With the Gemeindeedikt (early 19th century) which was Rural Municipality When Bach formed. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subject to the Ebermannstadt district court , in financial administration to the Breitenbach Rent Office and in voluntary jurisdiction to the Pretzfeld Patrimonial Court . The municipality had an area of ​​1,982 km².

On July 1, 1976, Wannbach was incorporated into Pretzfeld with the regional reform .

The place has been predominantly Protestant since the Reformation and belongs to the parish of St. Johannis (Wannbach) , a branch of St. Matthäus (Hetzelsdorf) . The Catholics are parish to St. Kilian (Pretzfeld) . There was a Jewish community in Wannbach until 1934.

The state road 2260 leading to lower fence Bach (1.25 km south-east) or to Lützel village (km northwest 1) pass by Pretzfeld (2.75 km north-west). The district road FO 30 leads to Urspring (1.5 km northeast), the district road FO 37 to Hardt (2 km southeast).
