Rosenhammer is a district of the Markt Weidenberg in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth , on Warmensteinacher Strasse and State Road 2177.

history

The hammer was first mentioned in documents in 1421 as "bey dem lower hammer". In 1588 Fritz Holl was mentioned as hammer master, followed in 1615 by Andreas Franck and by 1651 the von Künßberg owned him . In the meantime, in 1625, the von Rothenhan hammer mill owners. From 1670 to 1676 it was Johann Christoph Weller and until 1746 it was owned by the von Lindenfels . Then the hammer became the property of the margrave. The Hammergut on the Warmen Steinach consisted of a hammer mill with the still existing castle-like building. Iron ore was processed from the surrounding iron ore mines, especially that from the nearby plate. There you can still find traces of the former ore mining. The hammer was abandoned in the 19th century.

Monument protection

The former Hammerherrenhaus from the 16th / 17th century in Rosenhammer is well worth seeing . Century. It is a two-storey, rectangular-stretched building made of plastered chunks of masonry with a hipped roof, the coat of arms of those of Rothenhan and the year 1625 can still be seen. To the west, two arched doors lead to the one-storey stable and utility rooms. A semicircular projecting stair tower with onion dome and spiral staircase is built on the long side of the courtyard front. The building is a historical monument.
