Böritzen is a district of the market Weidenberg in the district of Bayreuth . It is located on the western slope of the Königsheide in the middle of a forest area. A first documentary mention dates back to 1251 under the name "Borlitz", named after a Slavic personal name (Borel or Boril).

The wasteland is about three and a half kilometers northwest of the center of Weidenberg. A little to the south, on the edge of the forest, is Wölgada . To the southwest, Untersteinach is about one to one and a half kilometers away.
