history
The community network Communauté urbaine Nice Côte d'Azur may be considered a forerunner. It was founded on January 1, 2002. In 2010 it had 535,543 inhabitants who lived on 351 km 2 .
On December 31, 2011 this association of municipalities was dissolved. It merged with the community associations (communautés) Communauté de Communes de la Vésubie , Communauté de Communes de la Tinée , Communauté de Communes des stations du Mercantour and Commune de la Tour-sur-Tinée to form the first metropolis in France, namely the metropolis Nice Côte d ' Azure.
When it was founded, the metropolis consisted of 50 communities. Originally it also belonged to the Coaraze community , but on January 1, 2013, it left.
Trivia
The departmental streets became streets of the metropolis. They now have the letter M in place of D . Where you leave the metropolis, the street name changes the letter, but not the number.
