Saint-Jeannet is a French municipality with 4128 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Alpes-Maritimes ( Region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur ). It is a member of the Nice Côte d'Azur metropolis . The inhabitants are known as Saint-Jeannois .

geography

Saint-Jeannet is located inland, about 20 kilometers from Nice , on a terrace created by debris deposits at the foot of the Baou de Saint-Jeannet ( 800  m ), a spectacular limestone rock that attracts hikers and climbers and a beautiful view of the Mediterranean , the Esterel massif as well as the French and Italian Alps . The surroundings of the place are characterized by vineyards.

The location served as the backdrop for the Hitchcock classic " Above the Roofs of Nice " with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant in the leading roles. John Robie, the "cat", had his house here.
