Valbonne is a municipality in southeast France in the Alpes-Maritimes department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region with 13,325 inhabitants (January 1, 2017). Together with Antibes , Mougins , Biot , Vallauris and a further twelve municipalities, it forms the municipal association Sophia Antipolis .

history

The village developed from 1519 around the Benedictine priory of Valbonne . The planned layout in a checkerboard pattern (with the arcade square in the center) has been preserved to this day.
