La Gaude is a French commune with 6623 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Alpes-Maritimes department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Grasse , the canton of Cagnes-sur-Mer-2 and the metropolis Nice Côte d'Azur . The inhabitants are known as Gaudois .
geography
La Gaude is located between the Var and Cagne rivers . La Gaude is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Jeannet in the north, Nice in the east, Cagnes-sur-Mer in the south and Vence in the west.
history
A Roman sarcophagus was found in the south of the municipality. The place La Gauda is mentioned for the first time in 1075 .
